Belgium, The hard stuff

Sunday 13th April saw the second trip to Belgium. The Juniors - Jake, Lewis, Adam and Luke S rode the Omloop Open Tielt and the Espoirs (well Tom Sprekley) rode a Kermesse in Kokelare.

Both races were graded the same as last weeks, but were much bigger affairs with plenty of big team vans about and a much better quality field.  Tom Sprekley was a bit unsure of what he'd let himself in for when he looked in front of him in the line up and saw two Quickstep jerseys!

Tom didn't finish the race but came away full of enthusiasm to go back and with a bit more of an understanding of what real racing is like.

The Juniors had what can only be described as an eventful day. The field was about 140 riders strong and the circuit very tight and technical. From the off Lewis, Adam and Luke struggled to hold their position and kept getting caught behind slower riders and loosing ground on the corners. With more experience i'm sure they'll start to overcome this. Jake made a better start and held the front group only to then puncture and have his tyre come off the rim and upend him.

Roll on the next race.
