The crit went pretty gud, i got 8th with not really riding that hard as the next morning i had a 5h30 drive down to South France for 2day stage race at the weekend. Got across to break then 2 clipped off on last lap and i came 6th in sprint of about 15! was hilly tho so thats probably why!
I had good legs again for the 2day, saw some provisional results after last stage and i think i came about 20th on gc. On stage 1 a big break went and all the big teams were represented so the peloton didnt really chase. I was stuck in that group which ended up 7mins down! So race was over after day one but we had 2guys in the break so was looking ok. In the TT the next morning i came 18th which was good seeing as my warm up consisted of 30mins riding on the road before the start as the team forgot the turbo's for w-up! amd also our rekky of the course before was flying round in car the night before in the dark! so when it came to race it was all new! i was not happy and spoke in english so they didnt understand i was swearing at them but i think they got the idea! I was 15 seconds off a top 10 which i know i could have go easliy with normal preparation!
Then the final road stage in the afternoon; the first hour was average of 44k's as was attack after attack but a break finally got away. The leaders team tried to control but when peloton lulled i attacked and took 1 guy with me. We bridged a 25second gap after a couple of k's and then our break pulled out to 1min20. A counter came across late on which made the break up to about 30 but it split up on the finish circuits which had a hard 700m hill 7times. First lap a little group of 6 clipped off and that was it for the day! we had 1 guy up there so didnt have to chase. He then blew on last 2laps so we had nobody there! In the sprint for 8th, we lapped peloton so we were sprinting between lapped riders and team cars!! it was mental! finished 16th on the stage i think so was quite happy with that after being in the break most of the day.
The best thing about the weekend though was the weather! it was about 35 degrees both days so got same tan lines as all last year in just 2days!! did make the racing a bit harder though! This week i have a another circuit race thursday then resting the weekend before a big elite classic on monday where im told there are several teams from belgium/holland etc that ride so will be gud to hav gud legs then!
Nice to see the lads clearing up in the local tt's! I'll be home at end of june so will catch up with some of u then! I'm planning on riding the dunsfold crit!!(top quality racing) the tuesday after the national champs so keep that evening free if u want to come race!
thats all folks x x x
